Howrey’s Washington DC Office Receives High Marks from Chambers USA

Twelve DC Lawyers Ranked

Howrey LLP is pleased to report that twelve of its lawyers and several of its practice areas have been singled out by Chambers USA as leaders in the field.

Howrey’s Antitrust, Insurance Recovery: Policy Holder, Intellectual Property, Litigation, and Litigation: General Commercial practices were categorized as top practices.  For example, the Antitrust practice has a “brand name for antitrust in the USA…”  However, the practice is well-known for its global antitrust reach and has been systematically ranked by Global Competition Review as the leading antitrust firm world wide.  Of the Insurance Recovery practice clients stated that the practice is “utterly relentless in pursuing its goals…” Howrey’s litigation practice encompasses all three of its practice areas – antitrust, intellectual property and global litigation.  Clients view Howrey’s litigation practice as a practice “that really gets around.” And  “…A brand name for IP,” Howrey has a long history of offering one of the foremost IP practices in the country, noted clients and peers. 

Among those Howrey attorneys listed in this year’s Chambers USA- DC are:
Alan Wiseman, co-chair of the firm’s antitrust practice group was found to instill confidence in clients:  “He has strategic insight and the right degree of persuasiveness.”   Clients were equally as impressed with Antitrust Co-Chair Sean Boland’s technique while working on mergers citing his “excellent negotiation skills…”   According to researchers, John Taladay’s practice “has taken on more of a grand jury flavor of late, and he has been busy acting for clients in allegations of price-fixing, bid rigging, bribery and false claims. Clients appreciate the ‘many perspectives and nuanced thought’ he brings to cases.”  Mark Schechter for his “tremendous knowledge base” and Christopher MacAvoy were also named by clients.  Sources define MacAvoy as “extremely clued-up.”  “Widely respected as one of the deans of this antitrust, Jim Rill’s reputation and work transcend national boundaries….”  He is “incredibly respected” by clients and peers.

Robert Shulman, of the firm’s insurance recovery practice received state and national rankings for his work done on behalf of clients. Chambers reports that he is “respected for knowing insurance law inside out.”  Clients also noted that Robert Jacobs has a “commanding grasp of insurance law.”
