Howrey Named 2009 “A-List” Firm by The American Lawyer Magazine
07/17/2009
For the third time since 2003, Howrey LLP has been named to The American Lawyer Magazine’s 2009 “A-List,” a ranking of the top 20 law firms in the United States. Howrey, according to the magazine, “are veteran’s of past lists.”
A-List rankings are defined by four areas: revenue per lawyer, commitment to pro bono, diversity among lawyers, and associate training and satisfaction. In these areas, Howrey has consistently acted in an innovative capacity. For example, in 2008, the firm introduced its new associate development model. Since then several firms have announced similar programs. Pro bono hours and charitable contributions among lawyers spiked significantly to its highest level of more than 80,000 hours valued at more than $27.8 million. Lawyers at Howrey also averaged 137.1 pro bono hours per lawyer, which put the firm in the “heavyweights” category on the A-List. Diversity numbers are also on the rise with Howrey ranked as the number one homegrown DC firm with the most minority lawyers.
