When the fate of a multi-year legal battle rests on the merits of a concisely written appellate brief and a single oral argument, tried and tested appellate law experience is essential.
Each year, Howrey’s Appellate group attorneys write briefs and advocate for clients in more than 100 cases brought in federal and state courts and the US Supreme Court. In fact, our attorneys have argued more than 40 cases in the US Supreme Court alone. In Europe, Howrey represents clients before the European Court of First Instance and the European Court of Justice. Since 2002, Howrey lawyers have been involved in more than 50 cases before the European Court of Justice.

An appeal is entirely different than the underlying trial, and successful representation requires attorneys with the skill set and ability to apply those skills to cases across a multitude of areas of law. Over the past decade, our appellate practitioners have played an increasingly important role in patent, antitrust, securities and commercial cases before the appellate courts.
